Chiropractic and disc herniations in the neck
Pain in the neck with radiating pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness into the arm are the common symptoms with disc herniations in the neck (cervical spine). Disc herniations are one of the most common reasons to have the symptoms described above. These herniations cannot be seen on x-ray and require an MRI to properly diagnose.
Do chiropractors treat these conditions? Yes! An article was published in 2013 that showed chiropractic care is not only safe for people who have a recent diagnosis of disc herniation, but it significantly decreased the pain and symptoms associated with the herniation1. The patients in this study were treated regularly for four weeks, then the frequency of care was lessened based on the patient’s symptoms.
